Happy Halloween! Here's a treat: two new exclusive Kevin Devine MP3's from AOL Music. There's a cover of Pedro the Lion's 'The Longer I Lay Here' and an acoustic version of 'You'll Only End Up Joining Them.' Thanks Kelly for the heads up.

Put Your Ghost to Rest is out today!!!

I updated buying & mp3 info on the music page.. some places don't offer what they did before. Did you know Defiance Records has quite a bit to offer, including rare finds like Travelling the Eu and a Split The Country, Split The Street + Make The Clocks Move 2xLP? I also added info on Buried by the Buzzzz, the limited edition 7" released by These Are Not Records last July. I'm trying to get a hold of MP3's of the remixes on that LP.. we'll see. (That said, I'm NOT interested in obtaining these illegally, I'll only put them up if I get them from the folks at These Are Not Records.)

Please, post your first impressions of Put Your Ghost to Rest in the forum! Also, for those of you who couldn't listen to the stream on VH1 because you are on a Mac (like me, for example), the album is also available to stream on AOL Music. I'm listening to it there now!

October 16, 2006

I forgot to mention yesterday.. you can stream Kevin Devine's ENTIRE new album, Put Your Ghost to Rest, at VH1.com (if you are using Windows). Check that out here. If you want to preorder the album, they sell it for US $10.29, which is the cheapest I've seen so far!

Also, as the album's release date quickly approaches (tomorrow!), I'm seeing reviews for it pop up around the internet. I haven't updated the press section in awhile, so if you see any worthy of posting, please send me a note or post a link in the forum. Thanks!

Kevin's album is due out in two days!!
I added the lyrics to Put Your Ghost to Rest, still some errors until I get a hold of the album (or someone else does).

Most importantly, if you haven't seen it already, Kevin Devine's official site is back online. There's a feed from his MySpace blog, a news page, touring info, and a small photo gallery. Most notable is a mailing list, which I don't recall existing before. An about page and videos section are coming soon, and there is a music page but there aren't any lyrics, though there aren't sound clips (didn't work for me, possibly because I'm on a Mac).

I'm looking into setting this site up with WordPress (or something like that) in the future, so I can import RSS feeds from Kevin's MySpace (like he's doing), as well as allow multiple users, so there will be someone else to update this website. If someone thinks I could do better than WordPress, please let me know--I'll need the following things:
  • Multiple users
  • Categories
  • RSS support
  • Relatively easy template customization
  • Forum integration (not necessary.. otherwise I'll just keep the one we have now.
Beyond these things, I'm not looking for anything TOO complicated. I'm only leaning towards WordPress because it's a one-click install on DreamHost.

Hi guys, just popping in with a few notes:
  • The official release date for the album Put Your Ghost to Rest has been changed to October 17th, 2006
  • There are leaks around--but downloaders should read this note from Kevin (from his MySpace):
I'm aware that the record leaked. I'm kind of split down the middle about it. If you have it, I hope you like it (and I hope you still buy it), and I'm glad people are interested enough to try and get a hold of the record before it's available. That being said, please be forewarned that it's probably not the final record. The things I've seen online have old track titles and old sequences which leads me to believe it leaked initially sometime back before things were totally finished.
  • Kevin's starting a new US tour supporting Corinne Bailey Rae on her new self-titled album (also released by Capital Records). If you haven't heard of her, you probably haven't been watching VH1. Tour dates are as follows:
    • Jul 27 2006 7:00P @ Bimbo's 365 Club San Francisco, CA
    • Jul 29 2006 8:00P @ Brick By Brick San Diego, CA
    • Jul 31 2006 7:30P @House of Blues Sunset Strip West Hollywood, CA
    • Aug 12 2006 8:00P @ Gypsy Tea Room Dallas, TX
    • Aug 13 2006 8:00P @ Warehouse Live (Studio) Houston, TX
    • Aug 14 2006 7:00P @ Antone's Austin, TX
    • Aug 16 2006 8:00P @ Vinyl Atlanta, GA
    • Aug 18 2006 10:00P @ Ram's Head Tavern Annapolis, MD
    • Aug 20 2006 7:00P @ The Birchmere Alexandria, VA
    • Aug 21 2006 6:00P @ World Cafe Live Philadelphia, PA
    • Aug 23 2006 8:00P @ Webster Hall New York, NY
    • Aug 25 2006 8:00P @ The Paradise Rock Club Boston, MA
    • Aug 27 2006 7:00P @ Mod Club Theatre Toronto, Ontario, CAN
    • Aug 29 2006 7:00P @ Park West Chicago, IL
    • Aug 30 2006 8:00P @ Varsity Theater Minneapolis, MN
More info on those shows are on Kevin's MySpace.

I've gotten a hold of the track listing for Ghost. In other news.. two of Kevin's rather expensive guitars were stolen!
Hello:
My name's Kevin Devine. I'm a musician from Brooklyn.

Two acoustic guitars were stolen from my car on N. 11th & Bedford in Williamsburg, Brooklyn between 1pm and 7pm yesterday (Wed, Jun 14th). I'm posting this hoping that someone might come across them being sold somewhere, and that that someone might let me know. It'd be much appreciated, and I'd try and figure some way to reward your kindness.

One is a Gibson J-185 acoustic/electric. It's a blonde lacquered finish with a cutaway and pearl inlays along the fretboard. It has a built-in EQ. It'll look pretty new - just got it storebought and new in December 2005. It was in a Gibson case with the 'Gibson' logo emblazoned on the front and a black sticker I got from a Green Line distortion pedal I bought at Main Drag Music in Williamsburg.

The other was a Martin DCX1E acoustic/electric. It's a darker blonde and unfinished wood, also built in EQ, also pretty new looking with some mild streaking (sweat stains) on the lower body. Got it new in March 2005. It was a simple black case with a bunch of stickers on it, including several large horizontal ones that say "I Love Photography" on them.

If you have any information about these guitars, please reply. If you stole them, you're a dick.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi all! News from Kevin is that his next album, Put Your Ghost to Rest, is expected to come out on August 29th, 2006. In the meantime, check out the lyrics to Heaven Bound and Glory Be, one of the new album's songs. If you haven't heard him perform this one yet, you sure don't know what you're missing!

March 26, 2006

A very belated happy 2006 to all of you KD fans! I am thrilled to tell you that after nearly two years of this website being up, I finally got my chance to meet Kevin Devine last night in Worcester, MA. (This is also only the second time I've ever seen him perform!) Like everyone who has met him, I found him to be quite friendly, despite the fact that he flew in on an early (6-something AM) flight from California for the show. I didn't get to speak to him for long, but based on his reaction when I introduced myself, he is more than appreciative of this website. The show itself was okay--lots of bands besides Kevin in a very small space, and the lack of a real stage made it impossible to actually watch any performers unless you were in front of the crowd (which I wasn't). But it was the small size of the venue that allowed me to meet Kevin, so I can't say I minded much!

If you haven't heard elsewhere, Kevin announced at the show that his next album is expected to come out this September. Stay tuned!!

December 21, 2005

It just came to my attention that my webcounter, WebStats4U (formerly NedStat Basic) has causes pop-up ads to come up on this front page. I immediately removed it, of course! If anyone out there can recommend an alternative, please let me know by email or via the forum. Happy holidays, fans!!

August 28, 2005

Clearly the whole "new design" thing just isn't going to work out, at least not for a long time--so for now, if it happens, it happens. The site works well enough as it is, and there are other things I am working on that take priority. I got rid of the shows section since I probably won't ever update the thing, it's just as easy to look at the official site or on MySpace for that. Anyway, congrats to Kevin on getting signed to Capitol Records. Hope you are all having a great summer!

May 20, 2005

I got the album (which is awesome) so the page for it is all finished.

May 17, 2005

Hey everyone, long time no update! Really, I am awfully sorry it has taken this long, but I've been absolutely buried with school work the past couple months. But now that school is over (well, after my last final this Thursday), I'll finally have time to work on this again.. and when I say work on this I mean I want to update the whole site, give it a new look of sorts. (It's a good time for it too, since the new album has just come out! I am still waiting for it to come in the mail myself.) Then when that is all worked out, I'd like to get a couple people to help me with updating silly things I don't have time for, like the shows section.
Anyway, for now all I've done is throw on a page for the new album, which I'll finish when I get the album. Expect a new-and-improved website in the coming weeks!

March 4, 2005

Regardless of the fact that no one bothered to respond to my question last time, I still added an announcement list so whoever wants to know when this website is updated will get an email. Who knows, in the future maybe they'll find out about special stuff before I post them on the site!
Anyway, I also got the lyrics to KD's newest song "Buried by the Buzz" (available for listen on PureVolume), thanks to the man himself. There are also a few new shows!

February 18, 2005

Well, after a number of computer difficulties, I am finally able to update this website again! There are a couple new shows (later this month), the new bio from Kevin's official site, a couple translated interviews, some photos, and even more tablature.
Meanwhile, I've got access to good graphics and web design programs at school (feel free to send me a message on AIM @ heyimadolphin - I'm monitoring a computer lab from 5-10pm [US Eastern] every Wednesday and Thursday night), which means an improved design will be in the works. Stay tuned for previews of the new look!
PS - How many of you would be interested in getting some sort of newsletter thing from this website? Leave me a message in the forum..

January 26, 2005

Check out the finally-added second half to the Pucknation interview here, from the end of the Rocket Summer tour. Both the first and second half of the interview now contain photos.

January 23, 2005

From KevinDevine.net:
...the record is finished and delivered. It's going to be called "Split the Country, Split the Street" and will be released in May 2005 on Triple Crown Records. I'm really happy and humbled and proud and looking forward to living with this album for the next year or more. Please note that the versions of "No Time Flat" and "Probably" up in the jukebox are demos and NOT the finished product by any means. Really. Please note that.
He goes on to say that he's got two new sites up in the ever-popular MySpace and PureVolume:
myspace.com/kevindevine
purevolume.com/kevindevine

Along with this fine news, I present to you more upcoming shows and another translated interview. Indulge yourselves!

January 20, 2005

Here's another recording from Torsten, this time of Miracle of 86 in Munich, Germany. Go get it! Also, the guitar tab for You're My Incentive (among others) is up.

January 13, 2005

Torsten of thiswayup.de was nice enough to let me put up his live recordings of a Kevin Devine set in Hamburg, Germany. If you haven't downloaded them from his site yet, get 'em here!

January 11, 2005

New guitar tab has been popping up in the forum, and as long as it does, I'll keep posting it!
I'd like to thank everyone for the supportive emails you have been sending. It's good to know that the website is appreciated. As all of you have noted, a musician as talented and original as Kevin Devine deserves it.
It is good to see that with the rising traffic coming to this website, there is a bit more trickling into the forum. Please, if you like Kevin Devine and haven't joined it yet, go for it now! I promise we'll be interested in what you have to say.

January 7, 2005

A couple new shows have been posted! Also, thanks to KD for the mention on your website. :)

January 1, 2005

Happy New Year, here's more guitar tab! People Are So Fickle and Tapdance from Make the Clocks Move. Thanks to Bobby W.!

December 28, 2004

Hey, we've got the guitar tab for "Ballgame", from Make the Clocks Move.. That's it for updates now though..be sure to check out KD's last two shows of the year!

December 19, 2004

Holy crap, there's stuff in fun stuff! No, really! Look!

December 16, 2004

If you're looking for the lyrics to Kevin Devine's new song, "No Time Flat," you've come to the right place! I emailed him a couple days ago and just got a response today. Check them out here!

December 7, 2004

I thought you guys would like to know that Kevin Devine is selling t-shirts for who knows how much on his website--okay, that sounds like they are expensive, but in reality I actually don't know how much they are. You see, you have to actually email him to get one, and no price is listed. As noted on the website, "the shirt design is a silhouette figure typically found on Men's/Women's bathroom signage with a broken wine bottle in one hand and a bouquet of roses in the other, with 'Kevin Devine' in block letters under the icon (where 'Men's' would be on a bathroom door). The shirts are black with the logo in red and white, and we've got M, L, and XL left, plus all sizes in girlie. We've also got white thin strap camisols for you ladies, fit for exotic evening wear or summer street stomps. I just turned into Mr. Peterman from 'Seinfeld.'" Good timing for the holidays! Who wants to buy me one? :)
I'd also like to point out the call for a new KD website, due to the current designer/maintainer being missing! I've already sent an email offering to upgrade this website to something decent. Cross your fingers...
Last but not least, be sure to check out the shows page for the last of KD's 2004 performances. Cheers!

November 27, 2004

Hey there, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I haven't put anything up in quite awhile now, but things at school are still nutty, not to mention ye old cashiering job, and trying to fit time in between to see my family, my friends, and my boyfriend. I have to say though, I'd love to see some things get finished that I've been promising to do for a long time (wallpapers, anyone?), so hopefully I'll find the time during Christmas break to work on that. Especially since this site is finally showing up on Google!
I added one more show date, but that show is today, so I guess it won't do anyone any good. (It looks like I'm not the only one with trouble updating websites.)
Well, that's all for now, I guess--feel free to post in the forums, and enjoy your holiday season!

September 19, 2004

Hi everyone.. I apologize for a SEVERE lack of updates; things have been pretty hectic for me with going back to school. For now there are just some new show dates to check out. There will be a real update soon, I promise!! Meanwhile, I am glad to see a little activity in the forum--keep it up. :)

August 31, 2004

Hello everyone! There are new shows posted, and a couple new sets of photos. Also, be sure to check the music section to download a live performance of "Ballgame", an exclusive from David Apuzzo!

August 9, 2004

The website is pretty much completed--finally! Be sure to check out press, which has a number of interesting interviews with Kevin. The only section awaiting completion is fun stuff, simply because there isn't anything to put in there yet. If anyone would like to submit wallpaper, fan art, or whatever else, please drop me a line!

July 30, 2004

Photos, photos, photos!! Wow there's a lot!

July 29, 2004

The forum is up--be the first to join!

Also, the music section is finished, complete with lyrics for all three albums, links to legal mp3 downloads, and information about purchasing albums.

July 27, 2004

Wow, here it is!
